It takes into account creatures that soar in the sky and the seas whether current or extinct. There are some details I'm still figuring out and letting them come to me on their own time (meaning, I'm not forcing any issues here). If no more inspiration comes to me, then this work is done and I will move on to the next piece.

i don't know, but it's as if i stepped into a dali painting within an oyster shell. i don't think i understand anything any better, but it was nice to have a breather.

Every once in a while you get a fun opportunity to put your knowledge to work, but in a more atmospheric and abstract way.
That's what happened in this case, a joint effort with Senior Art Director, Don Barnett who works for Lynda.com. He's a friend and mentor of mine and having this chance was a real treat! I did the initial layouts and concepts based on his thoughts...all in Photoshop....and then Don had his hand in it to take it to final. I've enjoyed the Lynda.com videos for some time now....being a part of the 'team' is an honor. Hope to do another one soon.
To make the cover means two things: the content and the art are of a caliber that best represents Nature.
What's going on? The quick skinny is this little green hormone seated inside the blue protein creates a glue when the magenta protein interfaces with the blue protein. My image shows the 'reaction' of the adhesion.
The imagery is 3D in molecular source, crystallography. Composited and composed in Photoshop and Painter.
